Trade interdiciton is the best doctrine for Italy strat.īattleships are slow to build up but it's worth the wait battlecruisers will do the job until then. I find Il Duce tank to slow you down too much to be worthy over P43/modern. At tome point you'll get -80% research cost so you can sling directly to P43, or even modern tanks. Later, you can pull of a tank combo: Armor focus + the guy that lowers tank research or if you are in Axis just focus the -80% armor bonuses. Do the math on the logistics screen, try to replace one battalion at a time to avoid going under.

When you unlock Mechanized, mass-produce 10k or so of them (you should own a lot of industry at this point so make 5-7 full lines) then you can replace mountaineers. Have 5-7 6x cavalry divisions and add military police for suppression later. Maintenance team is great when you pop tanks unless you love losing equipment, followed by medic team right before the big war breaks out so you save a ton of manpower. Start hoarding P75 tanks and once you popped all the divisions you want, add them to your mountaineer divisions mountaineers will counter the penalties on mountain that heavy tanks get, and their higher breakthrough combined with the tanks' means you will be steamrolling. Get arty to go with them, I usually run 7 mountaineers 3 arty 1 support arty 1 recon 1 engi.Īlso add some support to other existing divisions (support arty, recon, +3 arty). Seriously for Italy there is nothing better than mountaineers, you'll be fighting in mountains most of the times.Īlso mountaineers have higher breakthrough than any infantry so you can attack better with them. UK is the biggest threat to Italy in both Africa and the sea so causing infighting keeps them busy. If you want to avoid the main issue, UK, on TURN ONE boost fascism in the UK.
DoWing greece is world war if you are Italy. Greece is also a good mid-game war goal for resources, but UK almost always guarantees them: that means when you go to grab greece you actually go against UK so you better do that when your army if beefy. If you go to Suez too late, it'll be so heavily guarded you won't be able to crush through, and you lose all the Netherland rubber/oil. The moment UK goes to war you have to be rushing for it, because their AI is coded to heavily protect it. Iraq is also important because it's close to Suez which you need to control absolutely.

Note that the "pop war eco first!" mantra isn't good advice for Italy as it doesn't give a lot of benefit in proportion to the policies Italy starts with, plus taking Netherland nets you more production value than rushing war eco and delay Nether/Iraq. Now you can pop War economy+the guy that gives +10% factory speed. Then Justify war on Iraq or Iran for more oil: frenchies will sometimes join their side but you can easily hold them off on the mountains with Alpine infantry. To help Spain just send them 100 fighters with the "once" policy, no need to send divisions if you do that, they will win with those (you will not be able to send divisions if you are at war with netherland anyways, you must be at peace to send volunteers). Note that you will not win the war until you take Amsterdam, so once you're done taking the 2 islands with rubber/oil, rush the city. Netherland is currently the best strategic point as it has tons of rubber AND oil. Justify war with Netherland as soon as you can.
Saetta fighters should be a turn one research too, they are much better than shitty interwar fighters, if you delay them you'll waste too much time upgrading the trash planes rather than producing new ones.Īfter you get Saetta done, get P75 and start producing them for later. Once they start costing 400 days each you can move away from the tree until later. Italy is lagging behind in industry so I dedicate 2 slots to plow through the industry tree: concentrated factories, construction, resource efficiency, improved machine tools. I'm Italian playing only Italy and I won several campaigns so here is my experience:
